I find what you are doing very great and interesting.
Now I have a question to you. Could you get contacts of people, organisation, theater, … who could be interested by inviting the dance Company from Uganda: BURUDANI DANCE COMPANY (I am their choreographer) in 2008 to perform our new creation:
“Memories of child soldier” and “Black/White”

In September 2007, Valérie Miquel (french dancer and choreograph) has been invited by the Uganda German Cultural Society, and the Alliance Française to create “Memories of child soldier” and “Black/white” with 15 professionnal dancers of Uganda and 1 french video artist (Cyril Ducottet). The all project was supported by the french and the german ambassadies.
The premiere has taken place on the 15th of September in Kampala (Uganda) at Endere Center and got a very big success.
The aim of the creation „memories of child soldiers“ was to denonciate what is happening with children’s soldiers through dance. First after having herself informed by readings, films, she went with Cyril Ducottet to Gulu (in the north of Uganda) on the traces of the children who every evening were arriving from the surrounding villages to find refuge before the nignt and to meet children’s soldiers. The all travel has been organised by World Vision (Organisation which is working on the reintegration of the children soldiers) to show them all important places concerning this tragedie.
The all travel and interviews has been filmed by Cyril Ducottet. After those 4 days could Valérie Miquel have the feeling, she can better speak in the name of the children soldiers.

“Kids are kids”; they all deserve our attention and support no matter
where they were born in the world.” Child soldiers out there are as
young as eight… Their psychological trauma is incalculable! The
personal price paid by child soldiers is often high: Brutalized and
deeply traumatized by their experiences, many continue to be haunted by
the MEMORIES of the abuses they witnessed or were forced to commit…
As first part of the creation was „Black/White“ a creation where she is dancing with 3 dancers:

“Three black men and one white woman, living in the same area but never
meet each other. One day, by chance they bump into one another…
Through curiosity, they slowly begin to discover…and to realise, that
they not so much diffent,…, just the colour of skin, … and not so
much else, …”
The creation has been worked with the dancers in a very short but very intensive time: from 3rd of September until the 15th of September 2007. 50% of the choreographie was before in germany prepared.
The travel in Gulu was from the 29th of August until the 1st of September 2007
This creation has got a big succes, and a new Company is born: “BURUDANI DANCE COMPANY” (11 male dancers, 4 female dancers, 1 choreograph-dancer, 1 video artist, 1 percussionnist from Uganda). The french german TV Arte will make a report in Metropolis, in November.
Dance and video performance is one another way to inform and touch the audience
